It was 2007 when Bryan Smith, President and owner of Bluetrain, decided to leave a rewarding marketing and business development career in the nanotechnology industry to pursue his dream of becoming an entrepreneur. It was an exciting year for technology–Apple had just released the first iPhone, Google was not yet a decade old, and the topic of SEO was buzzing in the marketing world. Nevertheless, the potential of online marketing was still widely misunderstood by marketers at large and even more so in Canada.
A progressive thinker and self‐proclaimed tech geek, Bryan quickly understood how SEO and online marketing would transform the marketing industry and saw the opportunity to start a business that would fuse his passion for marketing results and love of technology.
Bryan was determined to apply his professional business background to an industry that was quickly becoming notorious for poor service and sometimes unreliable results. Bryan knew that if he was going to start his own company, it would have to be different from the pack. He decided then that Bluetrain would have to be founded on values, such as quality work, high integrity, effective collaboration, and an ongoing focus to learn and change.
In 2021, mere months after celebrating 14 years on the front lines of the digital marketing industry, Bluetrain gained a division of social media experts and fierce creatives after years of strategic collaboration with its partner, Simplified Social. Alexandra Carnio, the founder of Simplified Social, transformed her entrepreneurial affinity and passion for social media into a leading role as Bluetrain’s Director of Social Media & Content Marketing.
Bringing her team with her and expanding our crew to include members across Canada from Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta, Bluetrain’s services grew to include an array of social media offerings from strategy to ongoing management and everything in between.
